Facilitator: Dr Margaret Critchlow Anthropologist, Educator, Founding Member of Harbourside Cohousing

Learn about a creative alternative to today’s culture of individualism and materialism. Cohousing is a neighbourhood design that values privacy and community, independence and interdependence.

In this experiential three-day workshop, participants will explore how to access the creative power of community to build a better world and improve quality of life. The facilitator will draw on examples from other cultures, old-fashioned neighbourhoods, and contemporary cohousing communities. You will learn together how to work through differences collaboratively, make decisions well, and find creative solutions that enable the best in all of us.

Recommended for anyone interested in the new Sooke Cohousing initiative and other cohousing projects.

  1. Carol Poli says:

Hello, What do I have to do to be able to join co-housing? I live in North Vancouver, BC

    • Margaret Critchlow says:

To join a cohousing community, contact one through the Canadian Cohousing Network to see if they have space. Some have rentals but generally you need to be able to afford to purchase a small new home in the area. Get to know each other and see if you are a good fit. The rest will flow from there.
